flower care 101

you just recieved fresh flowers… now what?

hydration

  • in a glass vase, it’s easy to tell when your arrangement needs a refresh. simply grab the stems at the base right above the lip of the vase, hold the arrangement tightly together, dump the old water and replace with fresh, clean room temperature water.

repeat each day and when water looks murky.

giving your stems a fresh trim will also extend the life of your flowers by allowing them to hydrate more completely.

  • for flowers arranged in a container you can’t see through, it will be harder to tell when water levels get low.

stick your finger into the side of the container every day to manage water levels. top off water with fresh, cool water each day.

location

  • keep flowers in a neutral location away from windows, drafts, heat and vents.

  • sunlight will decrease your flower’s lifespan. keep away from direct light.

the pace of nature

  • flowers wilt at different rates. the time a flower lasts can vary from variety to variety as well as from flower to flower. some of this is impossible to control or predict - it’s the way of nature and perishable product!

  • as flowers wilt, remove them from your arrangement to keep all other flowers healthy and the arrangement looking fresh.
